Mangalore : The nursing staffs of Kerala have complaint against Shafi Shoukat for the Visa dupe case. Speaking at the press meet held at Press Club on Nov 30, Friday, one of the victims Nishad P said that many nursing Keralite staffs came to know that Shafi is arranging visa for the needy people. Later some of the staffs approached him in the 1st week of December 2011 for the visa purpose at his office located at Deralakatta opposite Yenepoya Hospital.
He also said that Shafi had promised to arrange visa and told to undergo pre-medical check-up and all underwent the check-up. He also said that the amount of Rs 1,80,000 is required for the visa and when all agreed it, he asked the advance payment for the procedure of Rs 45,000 through NEFT to his wife Fathima’s account. After it was remitted, he also gave a receipt for having received the amount of Rs 45,000. He also handed over the original documents and receipts back to us after getting the same notarized.
After some day, Shafi contacted us and demanded a sum of Rs 10,500 for certificates attestation and believing his words all paid him.
In the second week of March 2012, when one of us called Shafi to ask about the progress of procedure, he asked to submit the original SSLC marks card, plus 2 marks card, nursing diploma certificate and all submitted the same, he said.
Nishad said that some of the staffs had again approached him to enquire about the visa and he replied that 15 more days is required to pass the procedure. When contacted him in the last week of June 2012 again, he said that it will be arranged in 2 days, but nothing has been done. Later again when we called him, his office staffs would disconnect the call or threaten us.
The accused persons are openly proclaiming that they have good contact with all police officials including Konaje station ACP and higher officials. They have cheated around 200 people and 27 have filed complaint against him of taking Rs 55,500 each for the visa to the IGP and the commissioner. But they have said to compliant in the local area police station, but there our complaint was not taken at the beginning and later taken.
