Mangalore : The National Womens Front (NWF) will organize a state wide public awareness campaign against Dowry from April 15 to May 21.
Addressing the press meet held at Hotel Woodlands hall on April 12, Thursday, Fathima Naseema, state general secretary of NWF said that the aim of NWF is to empower the women’s community in the educational, social, cultural, economical and political field.
She also said that this organization working for the women by the women. There is a law against the dowry in the Indian constitution, but still this system is continuing from years. The marriage taking place for the dowry is harassing the girls throughout their life and the parents of the girls suffer till the end.
The organization will commence the campaign with the slogan ‘Varadakshine Mohigalu Samaja Drohigalu’ which is dowry lovers are societal cheaters on April 15 in Mysore and many women’s union representatives will participate in the event. NWF nationa president Shahida Tasneem will inaugurate the campaign and state president Shaheeda Aslam will preside over the event.
The campaign will include seminar, public meet, district convention, counseling, rally, cultural programmes, discussion and others.
