Mangalore: Those who wish to establish a new industrial unit in DK, must hereafter think of removing air pollution and water contamination, and water contamination their activities accordingly as per state Act passed to protect our environment.
They need to approach the Population Control Board for a prior permission, the District Smallscale Industries Association warned here on Monday.
All existing units of industry (like UPCL or MRPL or others) must obtain by March 31 next, a letter of consent or approval from the Control Board. Those who do not fall in line, would be facing legal action after April 3.
Complaints will be lodged against them in courts, or they will be forcibly closed down, or (3) deposit money would be Collected from them from the date of functioning, an order issued by state Pollution Control Board has ruled, said the SI Association.
A ‘Help-cell’ has been opened at he District Small Industries Centre in Yeyyadi(near KPolytechnic), to provide all necessary information, and to apply for safety measures, as per Act in force, the Association release stated.
