Puttur : On the day Shiradi Ghat thrown open to traffic, it witnessed a collision of a jeep and a tanker near Addahole on Shiradi Ghat resulting in the death of two women here on Monday August 10. The deceased were identified as Rukmini (35), wife of Perje resident Vishwanath, and Bhavani (40), wife of the late Guddappa, and both were relatives.

Kokkrady resident Chandrashekar who was driving the jeep, a nun identified as Sr Nisha and another lady named Lilly were injured and shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru. Another injured, Vishwanath, was taken to Uppinangady general hospital. A tanker moving from Bengaluru to Mangaluru rammed into the jeep. With occupants going towards Sakleshpur.But the accident did not take place on the newly-concreted stretch but a little distance away, it is learnt.

Puttur traffic police have registered a case.
