Mangalore: what is Bio-metrics? In a single day workshop on ‘Biological (birth) Databases (caste society) and sequence analysis (for population variety) Tools’ held in St Aloysius college (AIMIT) centre for Bio informatics the answer was found. Govt. of India ministry of Science and Science and Technology founded the study.
The aim was to acquaint students with available Biological resources on a world wide web and demonstrating the practical applications by hands in training for the science.
50 students and a faculty member attended.
The workshop was inaugurated by Fr. Denzil Lobo, AIMIT director. Prof. Deborah Vijay introduced the students to several biological databases, to be used as tools and analysis packages.
The morning session has an interactive Question/Answer period to clear doubts and queries. Demonstrations were provided with tools. Prof. S. Rebello delivered a talk. All participants were given certificates at the conclusion of workshop.
