Bengaluru: The total number of confirmed novel coronavirus cases in the state is now 651. This is inclusive of 321 recoveries and 27 casualties on Monday
The state recorded the death of one Covid-19 patient in the last 24 hours. In addition, authorities in Karnataka detected 37 of the total 651 cases between 5 pm on May 3 and 5 pm on May 4, 2020.
The state now has 302 active cases of the novel coronavirus. While 296 of these patients are being kept in either institutional or home quarantine and are stable, the remaining six patients are undergoing treatment for the infection in intensive care units (ICUs).
Out of the recently detected patients, 22 are from Davanagere, 7 from Bidar, followed by 2 from Mandya and one each from Bengaluru (urban), Kalaburgi, Chincholi, Vijayapura, Savanur (Haveri), and Chikkaballapura. Most of the patients are contacts of individuals who have tested positive for the infection earlier, while the others have travel history to Maharashtra or Telangana and one has an “influenza-like illness”. The contact tracing of the patient from Bengaluru (urban) is still underway.
From the 21 positive cases, 12 are men, 8 women and includes 3 who are under 17 years of age. A total of 28 people presently are COVID-19 positive in Davangere.
