Mangalore : A construction worker died and seven others were rescued after land from a nearby hill caved in at a construction site at Derebail Konchady in Mangalore on November 20, Tuesday.
The deceased construction worker is Abdul Vadath Mundal from Kolkata. The fire fighters could rescue the seven others trapped beneath the soil after over two hour long operation.
They have been shifted to the nearby AJ Hospital.
Several local residents who were at the spot were blaming the K2K construction company for failing to ensure adequate safety measures at the construction site.
The injured workers are Shilpa, Abdul Huda, Mukul and Subhash, all from Andhra Pradesh.
Even Chief Fire Officer Varadarj said the incident took place due to sheer negligence Nearly four fire service vehicles and over 25 personnel took part in the rescue operation.
