Mangaluru : Dakshina Kannada district on Thursday recorded its seventeenth Covid-19 positive case. This development came two days after a 67-year-old woman (P-409) and an immediate neighbour of P-390, who passed away on Sunday, were declared positive. The latest positive case has been designated P-432 in the bulletin released by the state government at noon on April 23. She is a contact of P-390, deputy commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh, said.
Incidentally, P-432, aged 75-years, was shifted to Wenlock Hospital, the designated Covid-19 hospital from a private hospital and has been admitted to the intensive care unit on April 22. The patient’s swab test reports confirmed her to be Covid-19 positive. DC said P-432 is a relative of P-390 and had suffered a stroke on March 18 and was undergoing treatment at the private hospital. P-390 used to visit P-432 while she was under treatment, family sources said.
The district administration has already sealed down Kasba village in Bantwal town and taluk from where P-390 hailed following the death of P-390 on Sunday and declared it a containment zone. The administration has shifted 49 people from the containment zone including 10 more on April 22 to the isolation facility set up at National Institute of Technology–Karnataka (NITK) campus at Srinivasnagar.
DC has designated Bantwal tahshildar Rashmi V as the incident commander for Kasba village to oversee implementation of lockdown.
