Mangaluru: Accused of a major robbery which took place in Mumbai in July has been arrested by CCB police and recovered valuables worth Rs 5 crore. A team led by CCB Inspector Sunil V Nayak conducted the operations.
Ruby, old ornaments and diamonds were robbed after kidnapping a Mumbai based businessman in last month. Police have recovered a pendant with ruby in it.
K S Yunus (42) of Bikarnakatte, Mangaluru is the arrested person.
CCB police had a credible information that another accused in the case Talat will meet Yonus to sell the pendant illegally. When CCB police raided the spot they found Yonus with car and pendant. Alto car also been seized during the possession. Talat managed to flew away from the spot.
It is gathered that the accused were trying to sell the ruby in Hassan. Along with Yonus and Talat their companion Likhit Gopal Shetty, NaseerAhmed Khan, Fakir Mohammad, Gautam Anant Kadam, Prateek Alok and Hasan Khan are also involved in the kidnap and robbery.
A kidnap and robbery case was filed in Bandra Kurla police station, Mumbai. The information was shared by Mumbai police with Mangaluru police.
Police sources have said that the price of the ruby in international market is Rs 5 crore.
