Mangaluru: An individual got thrashed by a group which was conducting a road block after he approached them intellectually. The news of this incident reached the police who rushed to the spot only to face attack on their vehicle. The incident took place near Bedagudde in Karopadi village on Monday.
The injured individual has been identified as Harish Bedagudde (33), chief secretary of BJP Shakti Kendra, Kolnadu. A few miscreants took advantage of the strike in Kerala and attempted to initiate a bandh at Bedagudde. Harish reached the spot and adviced the miscreants that it was not right to conduct Kerala hartal in Karnataka.
Later, when he was on his way to attend a programme at Sunkadakatte, the miscreants from Karnataka waylaid his bike and questioned him on his objection to their hartal and proceeded to assault him. Harish suffered grievous ear injury and is receiving treatment at Puttur hospital.
As soon as the news of the incident reached Vittal police, the SI and his team rushed to the location via Mittanadka. The police demanded that the miscreants stop their hartal and clear the road. In response, the miscreants applied sludge to the police vehicle.
KSRP force has been deployed at this location and senior officials visited the site and conducted an investigation.
Three persons came on a bike and threw stones at a government bus at Kanya near Delanta Bettu. The KSRTC bus was plying from Puttur towards Manjeshwar via Vittal. Stones were also pelted at a private bus that was plying from Vittal to Bedagudde. This incident took place at Kantadka near Bayrikatte.
As the miscreants were attempting to attack the police vehicle, the localities simultaneously informed Kerala police. Immediately, Manjeshwar police rushed to the location. They then removed the objects blocking the road and normalized traffic movement on Sunkadakatte road.
