Mangalore: Deputy Speaker of State Legislative Assembly Yogish Bhat has informed that the ONGC-MRPL has come forward to provide Rs 21 crore required for the construction of a new full-fledged building for the Ladygoschen Hospital in Mangalore.
In a press communiqué, Bhat also said the new building would be named ONGC-MRPL Lady Goschen Block.
The new building will be located in a 1.5 lakh square feet area and will have six floors and will be equipped with state –of-the art infrastructure and will also have a burns centre,
It is learnt, a decision to invite tenders for the project was taken at a meeting held at the DC office on Monday in the presence of DC Channappa Gowda, Yogish Bhat, Commissioner Harish Kumar, ONGC-MRPL MD PP Upadhya, Dr Shakuntala, Ladygoschen Hospital superintendent and others.
It may be recalled here that a portion of the hospital building had been demolished last year after an Andhra entrepreneur came forward to donate funds for the same. However the project remained in the back burner after funds did not come through.
