Mangalore: In connection with the proposed ambitious LNG Regasification Terminal project to be jointly set up at New Mangalore Port by the ONGC led consortium including ), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), Mitsui and Company Limited of Japan, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between ONGC led consortium and the NMPT at Hotel Gateway on March 18, Monday.
The Agreement documents NMPT’s no-objection to the feasibility study and also its full co-operation for the proposed project. The consortium will carry out a Feasibility Study for a terminal of 2-3 MMTPA capacity, expandable to 5 MMTPA.
Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas M Veerappa Moily, Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, Union Minister Oscar Fernandes,K S Jamestin, Director, HR of ONGC), Dr P Tamilvanan, Chairman, NMPT,
Chairman of Mitsui and Company, Japan Suzuki, R K Singh, Chairman of BPCL, Sudhir Vasudeva, Chairman of ONGC and several other dignitaries were present.
Union Minister Veerappa Moily who was among the speakers said the project would open a new chapter in the history of Mangalore and said the people of the state and Mangalore need to extend their wholehearted support for the project.
