Mangaluru : Water consumers in the city will be able to pay bills online shortly, as the Mangaluru City Corporation has taken steps to this effect.

According to K.S. Linge Gowda, Executive Engineer (water supply) at the corporation, efforts would be made to implement it from March 1.

He said that the corporation will also come out with an e-enabled facility under which the consumers could SMS a designated number if they did not received the water bills.

If they mentioned the sequence numbers of their connections the civic body would address those cases.

The Executive Engineer said that eight teams have been constituted to recover pending bills. Since then, the monthly collection of bills has crossed more than rs 3 core since the past two months. Till then, the monthly collection was up to rs 2 crore.
