Belgaum : Close on the heels of Vital Arabhavi ‘s suicide by drinking poison, when the legislative session was on, the opposition parties (JD-S & BJP) demanded resignation of CM for his failure to fix a minimum sale price on sugar cane as demanded by striking farmers among whom the late Vital was one.
CM refused to oblige the opposition, saying that compensation would be paid for the loss of Vitals’ life. Chikkamagalur MLA, C.T. Ravi demanded that an additional Rs. 1000 be paid over the minimum price so far fixed by the govt.
There was no immediate response from the govt. on his suggestion to raise the sugar price per TON.
The BJP MLA’s jumped in the well of the house and demonstrated before the Speaker who immediately adjourned the House in view of pandemonium
