Mangalore : The opposition party made huge noise shouting the slogan during the at the Mangalore City Corporation Council meeting held on Saturday July 31.
Ashok, Congress councilor demanded the reason for the cancellation of e-tenders for solid waste management contracts councilor Shanta, who is also the chairperson of the MCC Standing Committee on Health and Education. When one of his supporters replied that Ms. Shanta and the BJP had indulged in malpractices in the tender process, which runs into several crores of rupees.
Whereas Shanta replied that the tenders was cancelled when she came to know about the malpractices done by MCC official. In reply the opposition party stated that some of the contractors were favoured by her and did not meet the deadline for submission of tenders.
Naveen D’Souza asked Mayor on the construction of two lane road taking place at Kankanady-Falnir at the estimated cost of Rs. 7.7 crore, when the proposal suggested for four lanes. Mayor replied that due to the restriction of residents for land acquisition it was not possible.
Several members raised the issue of the poor condition of parts of national highways 17 and 48 in the city limits.
