Udupi : The new Rajya Sabha member from Congress in Karnataka and AICC General Secretary, Oscar Fernandes of Udupi has assured all Panchayati Raj units in the state that Congress will not let them down. He saw a new path of people’s support for Congress in the recent GP elections as a pointer to Congress coming to power in the next general elections when BJP is expected to collapse under its own weight and because of its bad deeds in power now.
He was felicitated on completing 30 years in Parliament and 40 years in politics. He started as a member of Udupi town council in 1972. He succeeded in building a career over 50 years, as the people trusted in his abilities to do good to them. Oscar is a CWC member also. He addressed a group of newly elected GP members in Udupi on Friday. Speaking on the same occasion, former MP B. Janardhan Poojary criticized BJP as a corrupt party. Lokayukta’s resignation was a nail hit in the coffin of BJP rule in state, he explained.
