Mangalore: Rajya Sabha Member and AICC General Secretary Oscar Fernandes has expressed the hopes that the Nantur fly-over works in Mangalore would begin after the technical hurdles are cleared at the earliest.
He was speaking to reporters after visiting Nantur junction in Mangalore on May 11, Thursday. Oscar said a fly-over was very much essential considering the density of vehicular as well as pedestrian traffic in the area.
Oscar later inspected the Highway works near Mukka church and informed that the NMPT had agreed to construct an over bridge at Panambur Circle which was turning out into an accident zone.
Even the NH Authority has agreed to the proposal, Oscar said an added the tender process of the Baikampady over-bridge was also complete.
He further promised steps to see that the highway four-laning works on the NH 66 at Mulki, Padubidri and Kundapur junctions would cause least inconvenience to the locals.
On this occasion, residents of the locality submitted a memorandum to Oscar requesting for a divider or under pass near the Mukka church.
MLA Abhayachandra Jan, Udupi District Congress President MA Gafur, and several officials were present.
