Mangalore : Reports say that over 150 doctors affiliated to the Karnataka Government Medical Officers’ Association in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, have tendered their resignation as per the call given by the state unit of the association in support of several of their demands.
It is learnt, nearly 65 doctors from Dakshina Kannada and 88 from Udupi have tendered their resignation letters to the District Health and Family Welfare Officers.
Meanwhile, state Home Minister R Ashok who has expressed his displeasure over the resignation of the doctors has assured that the government will fulfill the demands of the doctors within a week. He also claimed that the government had responded positively to the demands of the doctors.
It is learnt, the doctors are planning to abstain from duty from August 10 pending the meeting which the government has convened on August 9 between the CM, health minister and the doctors.
