Kundapur : Over 200 fish, species Katla and Masri, were found dead in tank of Koti Thirtha, in Koteshwara Kotilingeshwara temple near Kundapura on Monday to Wednesday during the festival which thousands of devotees attended the Kodi festival and some of them who received the prasadam in the form of beaten rice fed the same to the fish in the tank.
As result the fish had stomach trouble and developed symptoms of pain and died.
On Monday afternoon following the feast till Tuesday evening more than 150 fish were floating in tank as dead while on Wednesday over fifty had been dead. The temple development officer Tejappa Kulal and GP assistant Satyanarayan had to remove the bodies of the dead fish to prevent stinking smell around the temple premises.
President of Managing Committee of Koteshwara temple Prabhakara Shetty and GP President Rajashekara Shetty supervised the proceedings at the tank.
