Mangalore : The City Traffic Police have charged penalty over 25 private and KSRTC buses for making as much noise and using high decibel horns in the city on July 17.
The Traffic police inspected more than 40 buses at Lalbagh and fined nearly 26 of them. Rs.100, was charged for frequency above 75 decibels. The removed horns were flattened under the wheels of buses to do not use again.
The police used sound level meter to find the frequency of the horns. The meter was obtained from the Pollution Control Board, it can catch frequencies up to 10 meters.
At the same time an auto rickshaw was also charged penalty for using the horn arbitrarily. A bike rider was fined for wrong side driving.
Traffic policemen H Shivaprasad, H Babu and Pradeep H S were part of the operation.
