Bantwal: Unidentified persons looted Gold and Cash over Rs six crore from Bhagavathi Co-operative Bank at B.C Road between Saturday evening and Monday morning.
The incident came to light on Monday morning when the Manager of the Bank arrived to open the branch at 9.30 AM on Monday.
Police said, the Bank had security as per guidelines issues by the Reserve Bank of India, The robbers smashed the window grills using iron rods and gained entry into the bank which they broke open the safety lockers in the strong-room and swept away all the gold and cash.
The district administration had recently called a meeting comprising bank officials and businessmen in the taluk and had directed that CCTV cameras be installed in every major establishments, The Bank not install a camera and not recruited night security guard.
An estimated amount of six Crores Gold weighing 22 KG and Rs 1.43 lakh in cash.
A case has been registered at the Bantwal Rural police station.
Additional Superintendent Shankarappa, Assitant Superintendent Rahul Kumar, Circle Inspector Belliyappa, Bantwal Rural Station Inspector Nandakumar among others visited the spot.
