Manipal: Most of the accidents are taking place in India said Udupi Superintendent of Police Annamalai.
He was speaking after inaugurating ‘Jeeve Ulisi’ (save livs) programme organised by Udupi Roatry Club and Udupi District Police at Madhva Pai memorial college at Manipal on Wednesday.
“Last year nearly 1.5 lakh people have lost their lives in 4 lakh accidents. Day by day the rate of accidents is being increased in India. Over speed, drink and drive are the prime reasons behind most of the accidents,” he said.
He further said that the young generation should be aware of it, and then only the number of accidents will reduce. Students should follow the traffic rules while driving.
Rotary Assistant Governor Subrahmanya Shastri, College Administrative head P Dhayanada Shetty, Rotary Club Secreatry Ramachandra Upadhya, Saraswati kamath and others were present.
