Mangalore : Dr. V.S. Acharya, Minister for Higher Education, Govt. of Karnataka conferred the prestigious Aryabhata International Award on Karnataka Bank’s Managing Director P Jayarama Bhat at a special programme recently.
The award was instituted by Aryabhata Cultural Association, Bangalore and was honoured in the the presence of  Dr. Mahesh Joshi, Deputy Director General, Doordarshan & Dr. H.L.N. Rao, President of the Association.
As a postgraduate with Gold Medal from Mysore University, P. Jayarama Bhat joined Karnataka Bank in the year 1973 and gained the position of  Managing Director in the year 2009. His significant contributions to the bank, made a huge profit with its 478 branches with a projection of business turnover of Rs 54,000/- crore for the year 2011-12.
