Mangalore: Pachanady residents set up roadblocks and angrily demonstrated against road engineers of Mangalore city Corporation (MCC), for keeping Vamanjoor and surrounding areas in a dreadful condition due to degraded roads kept unrepaired.
H.S Chandru addressing the protestors in a road rally today, accused MCC of neglecting all roads, other than NHs to be in a dilapidated condition like their own minds, in this area within city limits or in suburbs.
All road works are confined to highways by MCC. It has forgotten that there are other minor roads as well, crying for repairs even after monsoon destructions, Chandru roared.
18 various local bodies including those of students and elders, expressed support to the public cause raised by the Pachanady residents on Thursday and blocked the road between Bondel Church and Vamanjoor for over 60 minutes. Chaos prevailed.
Two MCC officials then approached the protestors, saying that repairs would be taken up within 7 days and appealing them to call off their demonstrations for a good road soon.
