Udupi: it is time for the Praryaya season to begin on Dec.12 and end in a month hence. In udupi Ashta Math area the Bhatha Muhurat was performed on Thursday. The storage of rice Paddy, Vegetables, Grains and other domestic eatable materials are stored in a Ugrana (storage) at this time, for feeding Lakhs of devotees during the Paryaya festival observed in early January, 2014. The temple of Sri Krishna were Paryaya programs, rituals and other events, spiritual in correctors take place this month for the arrival of the new Swamiji of Kaniyoor Math who takes over from Sodev Math swamiji, the right of worship of Sri Krishna idol daily for the next two years.
Devotees from several villages around in Udupi District and D.K district also are expected to offer loads of coconuts, grains, Vegetables and fruits etc. wild up in bullock-cards and taken to the new Math that holds Paryaya from 2014 to 2016. This is known as Hore-kanike (offering of loads of food materials to god and his pious followers in season during Paryaya change over from Sode to Kaniyoor Math.
On this occasion Balaji Ragavendra Acharya, Harikrishna Punaroor, Ranjan Kalkura, Bhaskar Rao Kediyoor, G.K. Asranna of Kateel Durgaparmeshwari Temple were among the devotees who witnessed the Bhatha Muhuruta rites held at Sri Krishna Math today. The “Hore-Kanike” gifts will start coming from today to the Math up to the end of Paryaya Pattabhisheka, when the Kaniyoor Math Swamiji will occupied the Sarwajna Peetha of Sri Madvacharya according to tradition going back to 800 years.
The Kaniyoor Math Swamiji is out of Udupi is on a pilgrimage all over India on Manjeshwar after which he would return to Udupi around Jan. 2, 2014 by making an entry in to town (Pura Pravesha) ceremony, when he will be greeted by devotees with flowers and garlands and gifts, on his return to his home town to take up new duties at the Sri Krishna Math.
