Udupi : Two Mescom linemen, who reportedly tried to rape a 15year-old girl when she was returning home from school on Wednesday July 9, were arrested by Padubidri police.

The accused, Surendra Devadiga (29), belongs to Nandikoor near Padubidri, while Raviraj Kulall (32) hails from Brahmavar in Udupi taluk.

It is said that Devadiga, who was on duty at the time, forced himself on the girl, who was returning home alone after school hours. She did not say anything immediately he picked up her hand and tried to molest her. A local farmer noticed the incident and rescued the girl.

Raviraj provocated Surendra in the act. He had suspended for this kind of allegations in Brahmavar, thereafter he transferred to Padubidri, it is said.

As per the girl’s family complaint at Padubidri police station on July 10, Thursday morning the duo were arrested.
