Udupi: Pakeeranakatte residents have taken up cudgels against some rowdy elements which were indulging in immoral activities in the area. On November 23, Friday, they staged a protest demanding an end to the atrocities and unlawful activities.
It is learnt, the accused were involved in nefarious activities and Basheer Ahmed, former president of the Jamaat has even alleged that the accused were camping in Pakeeranakatte since two years. They were addicted to drugs and resorted to theft of valuables, cattle theft and eve teasing.
The protest was staged in the backdrop of the accused attacking a few locals on Thursday with sticks and knife.
A complaint has been lodged with Kaup police and appeal was also made to the tahsildar, Deputy Commissioner and Police Commissioner to deal with the unlawful elements.
