Mangaluru : Public Relations Officer at at Palakkad Division clarified that the recent report circulating in the media regarding an incident involving the Railway Protection Force (RPF) staff at Mangaluru Central Railway Station on 01.02.2025. The report suggests that an individual’s leg was amputated following an alleged incident where the person was beaten by an RPF personnel.
Upon review of the facts, we wish to provide the following clarification. On 06.02.2025, based on the statement of the complainant, Shri Suresan P.V., a case was registered by the Government Railway Police (GRP) in Cr.No.03/2025 under Section 118 BNS 2023 against an unknown person. An investigation was initiated, including a review of CCTV footage and the collection of statements from the duty staff. The CCTV footage from 01.02.2025 clearly shows that the RPF staff on duty, attended to the complainant around 10:38 hrs. The footage shows that the complainant was guided by the RPF personnel to exit through the Railway Food Plaza restaurant and walked out independently, without assistance or any forced intervention. The CCTV footage, which has been preserved and handed over to the GRP, does not support the claim of physical altercation or any form of assault.
Suresan P.V., the complainant, was appeared intoxicated and disoriented, was found lying on a bench in a disruptive condition. After being asked to leave, the complainant walked towards the main entrance, where he was guided out through the Food Plaza. There were no reports or complaints from other passengers regarding any use of force during the interaction.
The complainant sought treatment at Government Wenlock Hospital, Mangalore, on the same day, alleging weakness. Medical records show that the complainant has a history of high blood pressure and diabetes. The amputation of his leg is suspected to be related to these pre-existing medical conditions.
In conclusion, there is no evidence to substantiate the claim that the complainant was beaten or forced to leave the station. The incident, as reported, is false, and the RPF staff acted in accordance with their duties to maintain order and clear unauthorized individuals from the station premises.
