Mangalore: District in charge minister Krishna J Palemar inaugurated the cultural programme ‘Sanskrathika Kalothsava 2011’ organized as a part of Mangalore Airport Diamond Jubilee Celebration at Town Hall on July 18, Monday.
The 5 days programme was organized by Mangalore Airport Diamond Jubilee Celebration Committee.
Speaking after inaugurated the event, Minister Palemar said that today Mangalore Airport has received respect from all the corner of the world.
He also said that, the work done by late Ullal Srinivas Mallya in establishing a Mangalore Airport 60 years back is really memorable. Later none of the people had worked for the development till recent years, he said.
At present around 40 planes come and land in Mangalore International Airport. To make it a fully developed International Airport it requires Rs 175 crore and an effort will be made to give 25 percent of the fund from State Government and the committee must make an effort to ask 75 percent of fund from Central Government. He also said that these kind programmes organize to celebrate the diamond jubilee celebration will help in the future development.
MR Vasudev, director of Mangalore International Airport said that there are many facilities in Mangalore Airport have many facilities which the children and people must know.
Presiding over the event, N Yogesh Bhat said that during the pre budget meet with Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa they had discussed about the development project of Airport.
The Mangalore Airport will be really become international airport, if the run way is extended to 9,000 ft and have 100 ft depth. The total amount of Rs 175 crore required for development and central government must think about, he said.
Srivastav, joint manager of Airport Authority participated as the chief guest.
K Thejomaya, co-ordinator, Mangalore Airport Diamond Jubilee Celebration and Seetharam Kulal, president of Samskrithika Kalothsava Samithi were present on the dias.
