Mangalore: The Kannada and Cultural Department and Tulu Sahitya Academy organized a foundation laying ceremony for the Tulu Bhavana (Hall) to be constructed at Urwa on October 1, Saturday.
Speaking after laying the foundation, District – in charge minister Krishna J Palemar said that the building not be same as other concrete building, but must pick the tulu culture during the construction.
He also said that the tulu teaching must be held in the bhavana. He urged the people of tulunad to contribute the money for the construction of the Hall.
Dr. Palthady Ramakrishna Achar, president of Tulu Sahitya Academy said that the government had agreed to give the fund of Rs 4.8 crore to the construction of the hall and Rs 2 crore has been released for the purpose and rest of the fund will be released after completing half work.
The three storied building consists of parking in the ground floor, office in the second floor, Sabhabhavana in the third and guest room in the fourth floor.
Deputy Speaker N Yogesh Bhat said that this Bhavana is different kind of building, which will work for the development of tulu culture.
He announced to give Rs 10 lakhs for the construction of hall and other others from the MLA quota.
Speaking about other developmental works, he also said that the Ranga Mandir will be constructed in the land of 3 and half acre at Bondel and also Mini Soudha worth Rs 4 crore to be built.
MLA UT Khader, MLC Bharathi Shetty and former president of Tulu Sahitya Academy Seetharam Kulal, were present.
