Mangalore : At a meeting held at the DC office on January 31, Thursday to discuss railway problems, Mohan Menon, ADRM, Palghat Division has said Mangalore was one of the stations identified to be developed into a world class railway station. In Palghat Division, Mangalore and Calicut are the two stations which have been identified for the purpose, he added.
The officer further said the Railway Board was addressing issues such as seamless connectivity, multi-functional complexes among several others. A Belgian Consultancy has been entrusted with the responsibility of marking railway destinations across the country, he informed.
A Railway official has also informed that the tenders for the Bajal-Padil under bridge will be floated within three week. The officer said so when Mangalore MP Nalin Kumar Kateel drew his attention towards the proposal.
Yogish Bhat, Deputy Speaker, said the state government had approved the Rs 5.16 crore railway under bridge at Padil-Bajal road and the same would be implemented with financial aid from the state government and the railway department. He also spoke about his proposal to have a flyover near the Pandeshwar railway crossing.
Several officials including DC Prakash, MCC Commissioner Harish Kumar, Monappa Bhandari, MLC were present.
