Mangalore: Mangalore police commissioner, Manish Kharbikar, has suspended from service Praveen Pereira, a constable of Panambur police station who was proved guilty in an internal enquiry conducted by the Police Department following a complaint lodged by Muhammed Imran (22) from Kasba Bengre.
As per the complaint Imran had been to Panambur station on July 4 for address verification considering his passport application. During this time, the constable while mentioning about a group clash at Bengre six years ago, attacked Imran and forced him to sign a blank paper.
The DYFI which came to the aid of the harassed youngster, met the Mangalore Police Commissioner and submitted a complaint.
Following an enquiry, the constable now stands suspended.
