Mangalore : Panambur police nabbed three in connection to the chain snatching case on October 7, Tuesday.
The arrested are identified as Zakir Hussain (23) hailing from Mumbai, Mohammad Rizwan (23) from Bajal and Irshad (28), of Permannur Village.
City police commissioner R Hitendra said that the police arrested the trio operating in Dakshina Kannada and Kasargod on the complaint filed by Ashalata Bangera, when two bike riders snatched her chain from her neck with a ploy of asking directions of road at Bikampady on September 24.
During the police interrogation it is revealed that they were involved in 12 cases across two districts and seized 400 grams of gold of worth Rs 11 lakhs. The police also seized 12 chains and three motor bikes worth Rs 3 lakh from the accused.
It is learnt that, with this arrest the police department has cleared as many as 12 cases filed against chain snatching in various police stations in DK and Kasargod districts.
The arrest operation was conducted by Panambur police under the direction of commissioner Hitendra, deputy commissioners Jagadish and Vishnuvardhan.
