Mangaluru: ‘Pancha theertha Saptha Kshetra Ratha Yathre’ demanding withdrawal of ongoing Yettinahole project reached Mangaluru city on Sunday. Yathre was welcomed at Kannur and reached Kadri ground through Hampankatte, Jyothi and Bunts Hostel Circle.
In the stage programme organised at Kadri ground, Shree Swasthi Charukeerthi Bhattaraka Swamiji of Moodabidiri Jain Math said that the project is being implemented to fill the pockets of some corrupt politicians.
“The projected was objected by many people. At any cost we won’t leave the life stream of our district,” he said.
Fr J B Crasta said that the project should be withdrawn immediately. Instead of Yettinahole project measures like rain water harvesting should be taken to increase the water level in dry districts.
K M S Masood, President of Muslim Central Committee, said that there is no politics in the protests against Yettinahole project. Drinking water is the only demand of people of this land.
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, NRSS President Vijay Kumar Shetty, honorary President Prof M B Puranik, Sanjeev Matandoor, Raghuveer Suterpete, Yogesh Shetty Jeppu, MCC opposition party leader Roopa D Bangera, Katholic Sabha President Anil Lobo and others were present.
