Puttur: 4 persons hailing from Kemminje near here, were cought, traveling with a Pangolin in an Omni vehicle, by Prob.DySP, Yashoda Shirbur.

Gerald, William, Norbert and Praveen were taken into custody and charged under Wildlife Act of harming a forest-living animal.

Pangolin is an ant-eater and has scales on the back. They are in great demand in China for their delicious meat. Chinese believe in the medicinal properties of the Pangolin’s body parts. Pangolins are seen in coastal districts of Karnataka.

The arrested 4 youths were produced in a court of law and the vehicle used as their transport has been seized.
