Sullia: The Panja family’s Panchalingeshwara renovated temple due for a Brahma Kalashotsava(Festival of Resurgence), for which on January 31, a Snake Worship Seva is being held. Its Chappara Muhurta(timing of pendal erection) and Sarpa Sanskar(the religious rites of snake worship) were conducted under leadership of Priest Hengavally Shankar Adiga last week.

The ceremonies for Chappara Muhurta(Pandal erection time) and Sarpa Sanskar(Snake worship) Sevas(services) will take place on January 31 at the renovated historic Panja Family’s Panchalingeshwara Temple after the Brahmakalashotsava(Re-installation ceremonies) on January 24(Tuesday), were, conducted by chief Priest H. Shankar Adiga recently. The shrines of Panchalingeshwara(God of five Lingas) and Sadashiva are done completely in rockstones. The various religious rites relating to renovation, re-installation of divin images and filling them with spiritual power) will start today(January 24)upto February.1(Wednesday next week). Several other small shrines are getting completed in a new form. A traditional pendal is arranged in a large area in the courtyard and circum routes. Several doors are created for devotees to enter the great new temple for worship. The city town is getting decorated and all tailoring shops are busy with flag preparing work. 59 villages in Vitla-Puttur and Sullia taluks and devotees serve the holy temple, and countdown has begun for celebrations. There are special processions on town-streets on Jan 24, 27 and 29 with green gifted offerings to the Gods.
