Bantwal :  Residents of Panjikallu intercepted a sand smuggling lorry towards Kerala on September 18, Wednesday and later informed the Tahsildar. The incident took place at Kodandur near Panjikallu.

The  lorry was proceeding on the inner road at Kodandur near the Kepu Ashrama School to avoid the Saradka Check Post on the main road. Gathering hint of the same, the public gathered and intercepted the lorry.

It is said the police initially refused to arrive at the spot saying the area did not come under their jurisdiction.  Finally after much pressure the tahsildar rushed to the spot and  handed over the lorry to the police.
