Mangaluru : It was childish skill that prevailed in every parent in handling or preparing their kids of different age groups who participated in 33rd “Sri Krishna Vesha” competition on ‘Shri Krishna Janmashtami’ organised by Kalkura Prathistana at Kadri Shree Manjunatheshwara Temple , here on Wednesday.
The temple premises was filled up with children wearing colorful costumes like Lord Krishna, accompanied by their enthusiastic parents, making their children pose to photographers who were waiting to capture an expression of cuteness and godliness in them.
A ceremonial lamp was lit by Laxminarayana Asranna to inaugurate the days proceedings . Laxminarayana Asranna stressed on the necessity of organizing such programmes, so that culture and traditions are preserved for the new generation to participate with enthusiasm.
Pradeep Kumar Kalkura said, just 8 persons participated in the first such “Krishna vesha” and it looks like a window even for a national-level such competition.
In various location with the temple premises, competition were simultaneously held for different age groups, including ‘Kanda Krishna’ for infants. ‘Muddu Krishna’ and ‘Thunta Krishna’, ‘Bala Krishna’, ‘Nanda Gokula’, ‘Sri Krishna’, ‘Geeta Krishna’, ‘Yasha Krishna’ and ‘Radha Krishna’ were others. Lord Krishna idols with certificates, books on the subject, flutes other gifts were given to each participant.
Chariman -cum-Managing Director of Karnataka Bank Jayaram Bhat , and A.J.Shetty, Chairman of AJ Hospital and Research Centre and others participated.
