Mangalore : The brand new Maruti Ritz parked near St Aloysius School gate at Karangalpady was gutted in fire on Feb 29, Wednesday.

Reportedly, the driver of the car had parked the car and went somewhere and the passer by saw the black smoke coming out of the car bonnet.

According to the sources, they was mound of ashes found after burning the garbage by the Mangalore City Corporation labourers and the fire was doused, but since the passerby has dropped the remnants of a smoked cigarette on the ashes it may have burned again.

The locals tried to put off the fire as soon as they saw black smoke coming out of the car. The front portion of the car including the wiring and car battery of the car were completely gutted in the incident.

Immediately the fire fighting personnels and jurisdictional police also rushed to the spot.
