Mangaluru : The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday granted permission to the Udupi Railway Passengers’ Association to file objection against ‘Kudla Express.’
Earlier, the Association had filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) before the High Court seeking the service of Kudla Express between Mangaluru Central and Yeshwanthpur as the Railways decided that the train would begin its journey from Mangaluru Junction.
Last month, following the PIL, Railways stated in an affidavit that the train would start from Mangaluru Central instead Mangaluru Junction after March 31 this year. However, the train still begins its journey from Mangaluru Junction, it is said.
The Advocate representing the Association brought the matter to the notice of the High Court during a hearing on April 18 and following the petition, the Court allowed the Association to file its objection.
