Mangalore : Mr. Gregory Patrao called off his hunger strike on the 25 day, after ecieving the assurance from the Chief Minister B. S. Yeddyurappa, regarding the demolition of his house and the acquisition of his property by the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) on July 10, Saturday.
He assurance of chief minister came after the visit of A S Anand, the chairman of the State Organic Farming Mission to the protest spot where Patrao and his supporters were holding their indefinite hunger strike.
A. S Anand visited CM and gave the copy of video clippings of the demolition of Mr. Patrao’s house by the KIADB officials and cleared the incident to him.
The CM immediately called up Mr. Patrao and assured him of his support and assistance in the matter. Later the CM also called Regional Commissioner Jayanth to investigate on into the matter.
Mr. Patrao said that he is hopeful of getting justice after speaking to the CM and has therefore decided to withdraw his strike.
