Mangalore : PC Parida assumed charge as Chairman of New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) on March 15. Prior to this, he was Deputy Chairman of Chennai Port Trust since January 2011. He also worked as Deputy Chairman of Mormugao Port Trust from November 2008 to December 2010.
He is a graduate in commerce and law and Associated Member of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of India. On assuming charge, he held discussions with all the departments, labour representatives and users of the port and sought their cooperation for the overall development of NMPT, a statement from the company said.
He worked at VO Chidambaranar Port Trust (erstwhile Tuticorin Port Trust) from August 1996 to September 2001. During his tenure in different ports, he was associated with many projects and this includes privatization of first container terminal at VO Chidambaranar Port, first and second container terminal at Chennai Port, privatization of coal terminal at Mormugao Port.
Parida was also associated in the merger of cargo handling pool at Tuticorin with VO Chidambaranar Port and Chennai Dock Labour Board with Chennai Port.
