Mangalore: A peer convention organised by Hongirana Network of Positive People was held in Mangalore on November 26, Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, SP Changappa, former president of the Mangalore Bar Association said the legal aid cell comprising five advocates will solve the problems faced by HIV positive people, sex workers and transgenders.
He said the HIV/AIDS bill drafted in 2007 has not yet been approved by the president and added once passed, the Bill would go a long way in solving the problems of the sex workers, HIV positive people and transgenders, he added.
KN Vijayaprakash, ZP CEO who also spoke said 6255 HIV positive cases have been reported in DK from 2007 to 2010 He also exhorted the HIV positives, sex workers and transgenders to make use of various government schemes and be self –reliant.
