Shimoga: Dharma can survive when the aim of Brahminism is complementary to the development and progress of Hindu Samaj, said Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Pejawar Mutt.
He was speaking after inaugurating an Awareness Convention of Brahmins organized at the Science Grounds here on May 19, Saturday.
The seer also emphasized the need for all the three sects in Brahmins to unite and hoped the convention would make the first move in this direction.
He said the Brahmins convention was different from other conventions as here the welfare of the entire Hindu community would be discussed.
On this occasion the seer also informed that tall the 13 seers present at the convention have unanimously agreed that marriage between Brahmins of different sects was permissible.
Sri Raghaveshwara Theertha Swamiji of Ramachandrapur Mutt., Sri Sachidananda Valukeshwar Swami of Koodali Samsthan, Raghuvijaya Theertha of Akshobhya Mutt, Sri Vidyavallabha Theertha Swamiji of Kaniyoor Mutt, Vishwaprasnna Swamiji of Balekudru Mutt and other seers attended the convention.
