Udupi: The Ashta Mutt in town is in eight directions here, with Sode Mutt excluding Puthige Mutt from next Paryaya Durbar at local Rajangana this week, and the Pejawar Mutt seer in his 81st year, challenging CM Gowda and Udupi minister Dr. V.S. Acharya, for sheltering UPCL in spite of atmospheric pollutions harming the district people at large.

There are heaps of criticism on the 8 Mutt Swamijis for their internal bickerings, from the farmers and local social service institutions, who are against UPCL contamination, Paryaya exclusion(of one Mutt), and Pejawar Swamiji’s three day fast from Monday last(January 9)at Nandikur temple area in a hall.

The dropping of two eminent members, Dr.Ramakrishna and Dr. Ramachandra by the state minister Dr. V.S. Acharya from a panel studying environmental impact and for leakage of report by one of the members, has created bitter feelings among leaders of Nandikur Jan Jagruti Samiti led by N. Balakrishna Shetty Who returned in a hurry from a visit abroad, to participate in protests with local Raitha Sangha leaders in Nandikur.

The Pejawar Seer felt openly that it was not fair to drop two experts from the study panel, when it was about to submit a final report on environment Hazards, due to UPCL functioning in Padubidri region.

He announced that he would place his demands at the end of his protest fast on Wednesday only, before the state Government.

Meanwhile, Dr. V.S. Acharya has become a sacrificial goat in the matter, for steadfastly protecting UPCL as a coal-based thermal power unit on sensitive Udupi district coastal region.

The Pejawar seer Vishwesha Tirtha also stated that he was not against the participation of Puthige Mutt Seer(Sugunendra) in forth coming Paryaya Durbar festivities, as and invitee. But, Puthige Seer has not received the invitation, though he indicated his eargerness to take part only as an invitee in the Paryaya programme.

He is opposed by 3 other Swamijis, but Pejawar seer Sought unanimity in the case. Sugunendra joined the ageing Pejawar seer has not received he invitation, the ageing Pejawar Swamiji at he fasting venure in Nandikur on Monday.

Puthige Mutt followers are adamant about his participation in the approaching Paryaya proceedings. Several other Mathadhipathis have arrived at the fasting venue.
