Mangaluru: The mutual respect should exist between public and police and the former should not feel scared to approach the police to register their complaint said B M Lakshmi Prasad, the new Superintendent of Police of Dakshina Kannada district .
“The concept of people friendly police station will be forward to ensure that people’s fear for the police is overcome,” the SP said while speaking to reporters here on Wednesday, January 2.
Responding to a question on the sensitive nature of Dakshina Kannada district, the SP said that if the relationship between the public and police is strengthened then half the problems will be resolved and the other half will be sorted by strengthening the beat system
Regarding allegations that lower-ranked police officers were supporting communal violence in the district, Lakshmi Prasad said, “I have not heard about such cases. If such things do happen, that will not be entertained and action will be taken,”
Mr. Prasad, a 2014 IPS batch officer replaced Ravikanthe Gowda who has been promoted as DIGP, Police Fire Services, Bengaluru. He hails from Kudremukh and has done his engineering in Computer Science from the KV College of Engineering, Bengaluru.
