Bantwal : Member of Parliament from Dakshina Kannada Nalin Kumar Kateel said there was a need to unitedly oppose Yettinahole project. The voice of the people of the district should shake-up Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
Speaking to media persons before starting the second day of padayatra from BC Road, he said that State government should provide justice to River Nethravathi and the people of Dakshina Kannada district. The ministers from the district should convey the sentiments of the people in the Cabinet meeting. There is no political gain for the BJP by holding the padayatra. It is an attempt to create awareness on the pros and cons of the project.
“The Yettinahole project is unscientific. In the name of supplying water to the parched districts, the State government is fooling the people. The project is a conspiracy to loot the treasury,” he said.
Stating that 370 MW of electricity is be required to pump the water from Yettinahole, the MP said “where will the power come from when the State is reeling under power crisis.
Medical practitioners and advocates extended support to the second day of the padayatra. The padayatra reached Uppinangadi in the evening. On Monday, the padayatra is expected to reach Nelyadi in the evening.
