Kundapur  :   A man from Maranakatte drowned in the Sowparnika river while crossing the river water  and was caught in the currents. The deceased is Ramesh Poojari (38).

According to sources he had been to the market and was returning when the mishap took place. Some sources say he had chosen to cross the river by wading and was caught in the strong current. It is also being said that he was under the influence of alcohol resulting in his drowning.

The body has not yet been found despite intensive search.

Kollur police have registered a case.
