Mangalore:  A person from Mangalore named K Narayana Shetty had lodged a petition in the Second Judicial Magistrate First Class Court in Mangalore against the Andhra Pradesh MLA and Majlis-e-Ithihadul Muslimeen leader Akbaruddin Owaisi with regard to the hate speech delivered by the latter on January 4.

Acting upon the petition the  Magistrate Srilatha Shetty has on February 4 Monday ordered the Mangalore South Police to  investigate into the case.

The complainant has accused Owaisi of hurting religious sentiments of the people through his derogatory remarks. He has also produced a CD containing the video of Owaisi’s alleged  hate speech as well as newspaper clippings on the incident.
