Mangalore : During the last 2 days a large number of citizens were seen at the local sub-registrar’s office standing in queue, waiting for hours and going away disappointed, as they were unable to submit various applications to the officers concerned from morning till evening, having set aside all their other engagements to obtain E-Stamping on documents. Even aged persons are involved in this activity but they have no separate facilities to submit applications with e-stamping in DCO, it is stated. Citizens felt dissatisfied with the arrangements even on the last day (June 30) to comply with procedures. There was commotion and noisy atmosphere to cope up with the deadline by eager citizens.
There is no franking machine for stamping, besides adequate staff was not available to attend to the citizens coming from long distances for govt. work, the complaining people stated when reporters met them today. The sub-registrar Srinivas lamented the shortage of staff in a rush on the last day.
S. K. Siddaiah, an officer, speaking to this correspondent blamed the people who created a rush situation, as Corporation Bank and Syndicate Bnak (Kadri), Pandeshwar Post Office and Hampankatta P.O. and Saraswathi Credit Co-operative Society etc., were also having e-stamping facilities outside the sub-registrar is office, which the common citizens did not make use of. The present system would be discontinued in a short time, and those who misuse it now or later, would be heavily fined with legal procedures against them S. K. Siddaiah added.
